How to Crack SSC MTS: Mentor's Guide
The revised SSC MTS pattern has shifted the entire focus to Session-II (General Awareness & English). Here is the realistic roadmap top rankers follow:
Session-I (Maths & Reasoning)
This session is only qualifying! You just need to clear the minimum cutoff. There is no negative marking here. Focus on basics and do not overspend time preparing for it.
General Awareness
This decides your merit. Give it your maximum time. Master Static GK (Dances, Festivals, Books & Authors, History) and the last 6 months' Current Affairs. PYQs are highly repeated here.
English Language
Equally crucial for merit. Focus heavily on Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms, One-word substitutions) and basic Grammar rules for Error Spotting.
Attempt Strategy
Since Session-II has negative marking (1 mark for each wrong answer) and carries 3 marks per question, avoid blind guessing. Only attempt questions where you are reasonably sure.
SSC MTS CBE Exam Pattern Overview
The Computer Based Examination (CBE) is conducted in two mandatory Sessions (Session-I & Session-II) on the same day:

What is the minimum educational qualification for SSC MTS?
The candidates must have passed the Matriculation Examination (10th Standard) or equivalent from a recognized Board.
Is Session-I important if it's only qualifying?
Yes! While it doesn't add to your final merit score, you must secure the minimum qualifying marks in Session-I. If you fail Session-I, your Session-II will not be evaluated.
Is there a negative marking in SSC MTS?
There is no negative marking in Session-I (Maths & Reasoning). However, in Session-II (General Awareness & English), there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer.
